Chapelle Notre-Dame de Pitié

In the Middle Ages, Locmaria is one of the lordships of Ploemel.

In the Middle Ages, Locmaria is owned by the Broërec family. In the 14th century, the Broërec rebuild the chapel on the site of a forer Roman edifice. The family made this church as their family vault. A burial crypt hidden under the old choir serves as their tomb. Above it was a tombstone, now located in the nave. The sandstone gravestone represents a knight lying on his back like a lying, surrounded by crests and weeping. This exceptional item, historical monument, is a masterpiece of medieval art in Brittany. As part of Art Detour, the chapel is open from 12 July to 12 September 2010. Contact the Tourist Office of Auray or the Town Hall of Ploëmel to know the opening days and hours.
